Starting from February 2, 2023, the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Japan will adjust the requirements for visa applications to China. Please submit your visa application according to the jurisdiction of the Chinese Embassy in Japan. The updated requirements for visa application to China are as follows:
1、 Visa free personnel
(1) Foreigners subject to various visa exemption agreements
(2) Foreigners with valid Chinese permanent residence certificates
(3) Foreigners with various valid residence permits
(4) Foreigners holding valid APEC business travel cards (excluding virtual cards)
2、 The process of applying for a Chinese visa in Japan
(1) Applicants from the embassy district are requested to log in to the China Visa Application Service Center (Tokyo) website to fill out and print the “People’s Republic of China Visa Application Form” online, and sign the ninth item of the visa application form and the online confirmation page.
(2) Please log in to the China Visa Application Service Center website to make an online appointment for submitting your application, and print out the “Visa Appointment Confirmation Form”.
(3) I personally went to the China Visa Application Service Center (Tokyo) at the scheduled time to submit my application and keep my ten fingerprints.
3、 Materials required for applying for a Chinese visa in Japan
(1) General materials
1. Visa application form filled out online;
2. Original passport and photocopy of information page;
3. Residence permit, Japanese landing permit or Japanese visa, and Japanese entry stamp (applicable to third country citizens in Japan);
4. Original Chinese passport and citizenship certificate or original Chinese visa (applicable to those who previously held Chinese nationality but later acquired foreign nationality);
5. 1 photo

4、 Other matters
(1) The unilateral visa free policy for short-term entry of Japanese citizens is still suspended.
(2) To apply for an emergency humanitarian visa, if you want to go to China for funeral or visit a critical patient (must be a direct family member within three generations), you must submit the identity documents of the deceased or critical patient (such as Chinese identity card or foreign passport), death certificate or diagnosis certificate, critical illness notice issued by the hospital, kinship certificate and other materials. Humanitarian applications can be submitted directly to the visa application service center without the need for an appointment.
(3) For diplomatic, official, and talent visas, please consult and submit them directly to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in Japan
