There is a city on Baidi Mountain, located on the north bank of the Yangtze River. At the beginning of the Three Gorges period, Baidi City was the best location to appreciate the scenery of Kumen, which is an image printed on the back of Jianna. Many famous poets in history, such as Li Bai, Du Fu, Bai Juyi, Su Shi, etc., have visited Baidi City. They came here, visited Kuimen, and left behind many poems. That’s why Baidi City is also known as the Poetry City. Many poems describe this place and blend its magnificent nature into it, thus attracting many calligraphers and artists here to leave their works.
Baidi City
In addition to those beautiful poems, this place is also a strategic military in history. Baidi City was originally called Ziyang City. Its unusual geographical location makes it easy to defend, but difficult to attack. Gongsun Shu, one of the generals, Wang Mang, once came here and established his own city and stationed troops here. In the year 25 AD, he renamed the city as Baidi City because he called himself Baidi. Therefore, the city where he lived was called Baidi City, also known as Baidi City. This mountain is Baidi Mountain. After his death, Baidi City was destroyed by war. The descendants of Gongsun Shu established the White Emperor Temple to worship him.
Baidi City
In addition, Baidi City was also the place where Liu Bei’s last words were spoken, so the Tuogu Hall was built to preserve the key history of the Three Kingdoms

This historical site has been destroyed several times in the past. However, in 1871 (Qing Dynasty), the county magistrate of Fengjie rebuilt this temple. Nowadays, Baidi City retains the style of the Qing Dynasty and was listed as a World Heritage Site in 2017.

At present, there are hundreds of unearthed cultural relics from the Neolithic and Qing dynasties in the exhibition hall. At the same time, there are many Qing Dynasty buildings, such as the Wuhou Temple and the Observation Pavilion.
Baidi City

[1] Tuogu: Tuogu (Chinese phrase) is a way of making a will, but it is more formal and ceremonial. During the Three Kingdoms period, Liu Bei launched a Crusade against the state of Wu, but failed, and therefore retreated to Baidi City. Before his death, he left a famous saying for Zhuge Liang: If my child (the Crown Prince of Shu) is qualified to be king, please help him; if not, please replace him. After Liu Bei’s death, Zhuge Liang devoted his entire life to maintaining the state of Shu.
