Chongqing Natural History Museum

The Chongqing Natural History Museum is a museum with a long history. Its predecessor was the Chinese Western Academy of Sciences founded by patriotic businessman Lu Zuofu in 1930, and the Chinese Western Museum established in 1943 through cooperation between the Chinese Western Academy of Sciences and more than ten other famous institutions.

The museum is located at the foot of Jinyun Mountain in Beibei, covering an area of 14.4 hectares. The building area is 30842 meters and the exhibition area is 16252 meters. It includes six permanent exhibitions: Animal Planet, Dinosaur World, Landscape City, Mystery of the Earth, Life Stream, Ecological Home, mainly showcasing the evolution of the Earth and life, biodiversity, and the natural history of Chongqing. It mainly elaborates on the relationship between natural resources, environment, and human activities, advocating for harmony and sustainable development between humans and nature.

In addition, the project also includes external space planning, with a focus on “experiencing nature, learning nature, and discovering nature”, designing some external projects, and creating a museum park that integrates with nature.

Parents can take their children to see over 110000 dinosaur bones, teeth, eggs, African elephants, and polar bears. In addition, there is a dinosaur fossil restoration laboratory where visitors can observe the process of researchers repairing dinosaur fossils through glass windows, and view meteorological and space exploration research results on the global ocean, atmosphere, and three-dimensional “Earth”.
