According to the Administrative License Law of the People’s Republic of China, “If the licensee needs to extend the validity period of the administrative license obtained according to law, it shall apply to the administrative organ that made the administrative license decision 30 days before the expiration of the validity period of the administrative license.” According to the unified deployment of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, the application for the extension of the work permit for foreigners to China must be submitted 30 days before the expiration of the license. If it expires, it will not be submitted, and it shall be handled as a new application. All foreign employers are requested to make reasonable preparations for the application in advance according to the above requirements, and complete the work related to the extension of foreigners’ work permits in China on time.

Step 1 Extension of Work Permit

Important reminder:

1. It is recommended to apply for this step at least one month in advance to avoid expiration, as reapplying would be very complicated.

2. The earliest processing time is 3 months in advance

3. We suggest that it is best to apply 2 months in advance, as there is ample time to be on the safe side, and early application will not shorten the expiration time. Currently, the policy is to extend the original expiration date, not the submission date.
