The State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of the People’s Republic of China issued the Service Guide for Foreigners’ Work Permit to China (Provisional), which came into effect on April 1, 2017. The Guide is applicable to the application and handling of work permits for foreigners employed by employers established in accordance with the law in the People’s Republic of China; The objects of approval are employers and foreigners who employ foreigners. Generally, the process is conducted through pre-approval and post approval.
01. Types of foreign talents

Class A: Foreign high-end talents

For example, scientists, technology leaders, international entrepreneurs, specialized and special talents, as well as talents who meet the criteria for foreign high-end talent points. Restrictions: Not subject to age, education, and work experience restrictions.
Category B: Foreign Professional Talents

For example, talents urgently needed for economic and social development: those with a bachelor’s degree or above and 2 years or more of relevant work experience, aged no more than 60 years old; Restrictions: Standards may be appropriately relaxed for talents with genuine needs.
Category C: Other foreign personnel

Other foreign personnel refer to other foreign personnel who meet the needs of the domestic labor market and comply with national policies and regulations.

02. Application Requirements
Class A: Meets one of the following conditions: 1 85 points or above 2 Meets internationally recognized professional achievement recognition standards 3 Innovative and entrepreneurial talents

Class B: Meets one of the following conditions: 1 60 points or above 2 Having a bachelor’s degree or above and 2 years or more of relevant work experience Holding an internationally recognized vocational skills qualification certificate Foreign Language Teaching Personnel

03. Application Process

Step 1. Sign the service agreement and pay the service fee

Step 2. Assist in registering and applying for an account online

Step 3. Online Pre review

Step 4. Notice and data review of application for Foreigner’s Permit to China

Step 5. Obtain a notice of approval in principle

Step 6. Exchange license notification information to the diplomatic department

Step 7. Obtain formal approval and issue visa

Step 8. Apply for a Z-shaped visa

Step 9. The applicant enters China after obtaining the visa

Step 10. Within 15 days after entering the country, apply for a work permit online and submit paper materials

Step 11. Review materials

Step 12. After approval, notify the site to obtain the Foreigner Work Permit in China

Step 13. Exchange permit information to the public security department, provide feedback on residence and other information, and apply for work or residence permits
